Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown is a hole-in-the-wall fortune cookie factory. While it may seem like this stop is far off the beaten path of your traditional tourists destinations, we loved visiting the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory when we were in San Francisco and I’d recommend you put it on your must see list.
When you enter this small factory the first thing you see is people sitting at a press actually making the cookies. While the process is automated, it still takes a real person to fold the cookies.
If you like fortune cookies, you will LOVE these! They are so fresh, it was unbelievable. You can also buy just the flat cookie rounds, which the kids loved even more because they were easier to eat.
Visiting the fortune cookie factory is definitely just a quick stop while you’re walking around Chinatown. We were only there about 20 minutes and that includes purchasing some cookies to go. But it’s completely free to stop in and worth checking it out.
You can visit the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for free at 56 Ross Alley, San Francisco, CA 94108.
