We hear a lot about the importance of character education and encouraging kids to be kind so when offered a copy of A Drop of Hope to review, I jumped at the chance. I figured it would be a book my 9 and 12 year old would enjoy, and I was correct!
My daughter was the first to dive into A Drop of Hope. As we read the book together I was delighted by the story of how even the smallest acts of kindness can truly make a difference in a person’s life. Seeing the town from the different points of view the book is written in, led to a discussion about perspective and how different people may view actions differently.
The characters in the book are unforgettable and left us feeling like we were part of this small town. We found ourselves rooting for each person’s wish to come true. In addition to being an enchanting story, this book was a great conversation started with the kids about what really makes us happy.
We loved A Drop of Hope and I would highly recommend it for a read aloud for younger kids, or a book older kids could read by themselves. Parents will even enjoy reading it themselves!
